Our Newest addition to the family

We welcomed Romy Grace Kosty to the family on Dec. 28, 09. She was born 3 weeks before her due date and was still 8 lbs. Not only are mom and dad happy to have her but her two big sisters are thrilled to have her, too.

Now that she is a month old we are starting to get into a routine and are in the process of getting CalamariBaby.com updated for 2010.

Let's start at the top

Well, the floor is done. We have yet to find our final rug but we have one for the time being.

We ripped out the old carpet and painted the floor, cement. We went with the dark blue, turquoise color and it looks really cool and it feels really cool.

We moved the register from back againt the wall to up near ther door.

Our regular customers really like the changes we have made and we do, too.

Recycled Gift Bag Program

We have just begun a recycle program for gift bags. We all have bunches of them.

If you bring in 10 relevant gift bags you will receive a 5% discount. This will all have to be done in the same visit. The gift bags can be birthday or baby shower, new mom, or flowers, stripes, animals, Disney or whatever could be used. The only restrictions are say a bag with another company's name on it or something that just wont work for a customer here like "Over the Hill" or something like that.

So you donate 10 bags and receive a 5% discount off your total that day. You may even have a enough bags to get another discount another day.

We do not sell the bags but let our customers needing gift wrap or on the way to the party a quick option and they can choose one bag to help them out. We will have tissue paper and such at no charge.

2008 was exciting as we have been able to find out who our customers are and what they want.

ABC Kids Expo

We attended the ABC Kids Expo Trade Show just recently and it was a huge success. The show was put together very well and the number of exhibitors was overwhelming. The next time we attend we will certainly be planning a couple more days to see everyone. Well, more than we got to this time around anyway.

We were able to take a look and pre-order the Safe Starter stainless baby bottle that should be coming in February from Kids Basix and it looks awesome. It will come in 10 oz and 5 oz. The new colors of the Safe Sippy are going to be bright and fun. Not to mention how awesome the people behind the products are.

The new bibs from Bebe Au lait are just too cool for words. As a mom I am so happy one of mine is still small enough to use one. This is a double sided bib that attaches in the front in a double breasted style using magnets as closures. so you can use two different sides and you could even flip it for an additional two sides. Yea! This is smart. Also some gorgeous new pattern being offered by then in the nursing covers, bibs, and burps. Hooray to Bebe Au Lait.

Siliskins will be making universal silicone covers for many styles of glass bottles coming soon. I am sure this will please many mommy's. They have also added lots of fun colors for those universals. Bravo.

You will be able to find the Noodleheads Travel Buddies @ Calamari Baby soon. They are cute soft and a good additional to the car ride. They support your child's head to try to avoid the slump when they fall asleep. Sometimes they still slump a little but they can raise their head and have a little travel pillow. The cute little animals are microfiber soft and machine washable. My girls really like theirs.

MyLittleSeat was at the show to my surprise and delight. Super nice people with a really innovative easy to tote product that everybody with little ones should keep in the diaper bag just in case.

Moby Wrap showed me a cool new hip carry that I need to practice but it was really cool. It was a technique that really turned the wrap into a pouch sling with a little extra support.

We will be having some new clothing lines coming in soon as we move some other out and they will be announced as we place orders. Also will will be changing up our baby carriers but Moby is a staple of course.

Our Grand Opening in Leucadia

The Calamari Baby Grand Opening will be the 30th and 31st of August.
The 31st will be the same day as the Art walk in Leucadia so we thought it'd be a fun day to have the store's Grand Opening. We have invited one of our baby carrier reps who works with Moby Wrap to come down to wrap some moms and answer any questions about the product. This will be on the 31st if she can make it. If you want to know please call us at 760-633-3857 closer to the event date.
We will be giving all our customers with their receipts a raffle ticket for free prizes.
We will be raffleing a Baby Star Blanket, A Baby Bonkie, and another gift. Just haven't set it in stone whet it will be. As we pull our raffle winners we will post the raffle numbers on the web-site and we will also ask each customer to put the phone number on the ticket and we will be calling on the 1st of September to alert our winners. The first caller we talk with will be able to choose from the available gifts. We will do what we can to work with our customers on the prizes that will work for the age baby they have or are shopping for.

Uni-body Silicone Vanilla Pacifier

We at CalamariBaby have taken our favorite silicone uni-body silicone pacifier and customized it with a simple yet cute leash. We have designed it so there are no clips (plastic or metal) near your baby's face. No beads or toys on it either. Baby has plenty of toys we think make it simple keep mom and baby happy. We have had a custom Grosgrain ribbon made that says, "It's Binky Time!", In Hot Pink and Navy. The silicone pacifier we have chosen comes in Blue, Pink and the Preemie in Green. Most of the leashes fancy or not run at least $8.00 and you do not get the pacifier. We have the Pacifier with a leash all ready to go for $8.00. We have the Stallion messenger bag. Totally cool. Can be used for a man or woman.
We are really excited to have the "Limited Edition" Panda. We have the Panda design in the messenger bag and the cinchy tote. You can really do a lot with this bag and it will make everyone you know tell you how super cute it is. It is great for style and function!
These bags being made of recycled rice sacks and other types of grain bags are very light weight. They are fully lined and would make a quite nice multi use type bag.

We are excited to say that "Little Giraffe" has arrived in the shop. One of my favorites by far.
The luxury and beauty of all "Little Giraffe" products really just takes my breath away.
We have listed the items that w keep in stock but are always happy to get you any item you are looking for.
The blankets and blankey from "Little Giraffe are favorites among all babies that are lucky enough to snuggle up to them. I have never met a baby who didn't call his/her "Little Giraffe" their best friend.
The chenille pillows are absolutely gorgeous. This is a good way to get your little one sleeping in her toddler bed. Tell her/him they will get this great new pillow. They are 14" x 14" and that is a really nice size for a toddler.
The baby clothing sets are my favorite little outfit. Snuggling your baby is already the best thing in the world, but put one of the chenille outfits on them and you won't ever want to put them down. The Luxe with the ears is super cute.
"Little Giraffe" also makes bath towels that are totally great. Wrap your little one in one of these great cozy towels chenille lines 100% cotton towels after the bath. The satin dot towel actually has a satin hood and is really beautiful.

Our newest line at CalamariBaby is Woobadoos.
Woobadoos are a finely, hand crafted little house shoe. The have a fabric upper and an ultra suede sole. They are generously sized so they will last a long time if you go by the age chart. The fabrics that are used are fun and whimsical.

They are such a wonderful must for all babies from 0 -24 months. This is by far the favorite shoe around my house for my youngest. I put my sweet baby to bed in them knowing that her little feet will be warm and that when I go to get her she will still have them both on. No more looking for that sock or socks that are mysteriously gone after the nap.

I cannot recommend Woobadoos enough. This is one baby purchase that you and baby will absolutely fall in love with. And for a little girl, the "Loves" are just beautiful.

I wanted to share a personal experience and recommend TinyRide .com for buying strollers.

They just really turned out to be a shop with exceptional customer service and professional, quick service.

14 months ago I purchased my double stroller from TinyRide.com. not ever having used them in the past. Well, just a week ago I had a major problem with my stroller. The rear leg with wheel broke in half. The double stroller was on sale when I bought it but it was still $299.00.

Anyway, I went straight to the manufacturer and told them what happened. They needed a receipt which I could not find. When I called TinyRide to see if I could get a copy of my 14 month old receipt they emailed me three different versions withing a minute.

Bottom line the Manufacturer of the broken stroller worked with me and TinyRide.com to and TinyRide credited me for the stroller and I was able to pick a new joggin stroller and just pay the difference.

I was impressed each time I contacted Tinyide with the fact that no matter who I spoke wit they all handled everything quickly, confidently and without any hassle.

pediped Flex is here!

We got in the new pediped flex rubber sole shoes for toddlers.

Wow! They are just as nice as we thought they would be. A couple of pics to see what I mean.

I couldn't wait to open the box and check them out. They are made so nicely. They flex really is awesome for such a sturdy shoe. On the toddler boys shoes, like the picture shown, the laces are actually elastic and they are made obviously to look like laces and the closure is Velcro.

The white toddler girl sandal is really nice having two Velcro closures to adjust to any foot.

We love pediped for their beautiful construction and the fact that kids love to wear them for the comfort. I was upset when my 2 1/2 year old grew out of her pedipeds and now they have some for her....yea! The pediped flex are for kids 2-5 years old and range from sizes 6-12(US).

We will be bringing in more pieces but we started with just a few like this one for infants. The size on the rompers only range from 0-9 months. This would make a great newborn or baby shower gift. Same with the Rompers from Hula Mula.

Hula Mula has arrived

Our first shipment from the all girls clothing line Hula Mula is here. We received super cute fun rompers for infant from 0 - 24 months and we also got in a really cute pair of sailor pants/capris and a jail stripe tank top that goes really great together.
Since Hula Mula is the sister company to the all boys fun, funky clothing, Knuckleheads I am sure our summer order for them will arrive soon, too. Super cute stripe rompers for infants coming from them, too.
Knuckleheads also has skateboards with their logo on them. They are really cool. They come in daddy and son sizes. If anyone is interested let us know through the store and we can get you one.

On a separate note, we received a wonderful compliment on the store and our service and I want to share it. I was told by a customer who purchased a gift certificate for a co-worker, "It was the best e-commerce experience shopping the person who redeemed the gift certificate EVER had. From placing the order from the way we communicated with her until her order arrived." This makes me very happy.
At CalamariBaby our goal is to treat every customer as if they were, well me.
Question: How many times did you place an order on-line thinking you had plenty of time for it to arrive. The day you see UPS pull up you are excited to see the things you ordered and you open the box and only half your stuff is in the box? This happens to me every time I order on-line and I hate it. I don't hate that it is on backorder. That is normal. I hate that no one from the company could let me know. It would make a big difference to me if I just knew ahead of time that guess what, your this, this and that will be trailing your first shipment by a day or two. Then I am not disappointed when my first part of the order arrives and still looking forward to the rest. Not just annoyed until it comes.
Our whole deal is communication. So customers know what to expect and if we need to go a different route to get you something by the time you need it we can figure something out (99.9% of the time)
I don't know are they afraid you may cancel it. Maybe. But they want it right, they ordered it! Make people happy, they are paying you for customer service...give it to them.
That is how I feel. I work hard to create an experience at our store that makes people feel like we care about you and your shopping experience.
When we open our Brick n Mortar, look out because it is going to be a very cool store.

Our shipment of our new pediped originals for infants and babies from 0-24 months came in early. The new little girls styles are just totally cool. I just love the Grace and the Jane. Every baby girl needs a pair of these awesome little shoes. They have a lot of other super cute styles to chose from these two are hot though.

Then we also received our shipment of Tea collections Spring line. I love it! The fashions they created are so adorable and fun for both boys and girls. The GFC shirts and bodysuits I really love. They are really high quality and soft 100% cotton in beautiful bright colors with the tag line "for little citizen's of the world."

Do you need to upgrade your version of IE

If you think our web pages look strange you may need to update the version of IE you are using. Exactly why it does not display correctly in the old versions, I do not know. I had a customer tell me it looked strange. She ran the upgrade for 7.0 and then said, "Wow! The site looks great, clean....Bravo."

If you don't know whether you have it, you probably don't. It never hurts to have the latest and greatest, right?

As I am putting in our new orders we are getting ready to do some major markdowns.
Innies n Outies who is already at 30% will go to 50% off for most of the collection. Not sure if we will be bringing it back. I have been told they will not be releasing a collection for '08.
Kung Fu Bambini will be on sale by Monday the 21st of Jan. marking everything that is left down to 30% off. Haven't got a look at anything new for them.

We have Tea Collection to make room for. We have Kids Ink onesies, rompers and tees coming in March and they are just too cute. I saw them at the Fashion Mart LA show last weekend and could not take my eyes or hands off them.

There are some Baby Legs patterns that will be retired so they will be marked down. Gotta make room for the cool new patterns.

The rubber sole toddler Pedipeds will be in soon. They look great. I got a look at them at the Fashion Mart as well.
